FACT OF THE DAY: Where is the coldest place on Earth? Coming in at a brisk -135° Fahrenheit (-93° Celsius), the Vostok Station in Antartica wins the prize. The Russian research station first began their core drilling and magnetometry research in 1957. Anywhere from 13-25 scientists and engineers reside at this station year round.
