The Other Scrooge

Scrooge

FACT OF THE DAY:  When we hear the name Scrooge we think of Ebenezer Scrooge, the Charles Dickens character from the novel, A Christmas Carol. But in 1979, in Charlottesville, Virginia, the name took a different meaning. There was an organization called SCROOGE. The name was an acronym and stood for: Society to Curtail Ridiculous, Outrageous, and Ostentatious Gift Exchanges.
