FACT OF THE DAY: The shortest war in the records books took place on August 27, 1896 and lasted a total of 38 minutes. The battle took place on the tiny island of Zanzibar as the British Army defeated military forces led by Khalid bin Bargash. Bargash had just pulled a coup d’etat and taken control of the tiny island. The Brits quickly stopped that.
