FACT OF THE DAY: “Hero” is the October 1993 hit single released by Mariah Carey. Written by Carey and Walter Afanasieff, the song was featured on the Music Box album. The song would spend four weeks at the top of the Billboard charts. The song was originally intended for fellow female superstar Gloria Estefan.

Who’s Got Perfect Pitch?

Pitch is commonly defined as the sensation of frequency, or the quality of a sound based on its rate of vibration. Perfect pitch is the natural ability to hear a sound and then be able to replicate the sound at the same exact pitch.

Sounds easy, right? Wrong. Perfect pitch is not common. It is estimated that approximately 1 in 10,000 people have perfect pitch. Many times, it will go undiscovered.

Some artists who are said to have (or have had) perfect pitch include Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Yanni, Mozart, Ella Fitzgerald, and Bing Crosby.
